About OrthoIQ
OrthoIQ is an MIT-founded medical technology startup developing intelligent surgical tools for orthopedic procedures. Our systems provide real-time sensing and feedback to surgeons, helping improve implant fixation, reduce complications, and improve surgical outcomes.
We are building a new class of smart orthopedic instrumentation, combining mechanical systems, sensing, and data to bring intelligence into the operating room.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Market Strategy/Customer Discovery Intern to help expand OrthoIQ’s clinical network and support market research for our surgical technologies.
This role involves working directly with the founding team to identify potential customers, conduct stakeholder interviews, and support early partnerships with hospitals, surgeons, and industry partners.
Responsibilities
Conduct literature reviews across orthopedics, biomechanics, sensing, and related technologies
Read and synthesize peer-reviewed research to answer technical and clinical questions
Support technical and scientific writing for SBIR and other non-dilutive grant applications
Research competitors, technologies, clinical workflows, and adjacent markets
Help develop technical content for investor presentations, industry partnerships, and other company materials
Analyze and communicate market, clinical, and technical data
Support preparation for surgeon interviews, conferences, fundraising, and business-development meetings
Work on other strategic projects alongside the CEO and engineering team
Desired Qualifications
Pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomechanics, or another relevant STEM field
Strong ability to read and understand scientific and engineering literature
Excellent technical writing and communication skills
Comfortable working with data and basic quantitative analysis
Able to take an open-ended research question, find credible sources, and synthesize a clear answer
Curious about medical devices, healthcare, startups, and technology commercialization
Organized, resourceful, and comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment
